ASSOCIATE - DESIGN
-
Karen is an architectural lighting designer and artist who studied lighting design and architecture at Parsons School of Design. She has designed the 9/11 Memorial in Hoboken, NJ, and worked with PHT Lighting and Luminous Flux on award-winning projects such as the Hyatt Hotel in Herald Square, and the Church of the Epiphany on the Upper East Side in New York City.
In 2013, she was one of 20 artists invited to create a gobo light projection for the Melbourne Festival of Light (Australia), and in that same year, she collaborated with CDR Studio Architects on an installation using deconstructed waste plastic bottles.
At the heart of her work is a fascination with the way we can create deep resonance and feeling in spaces and objects, such as the way certain types of light can illuminate materials, visually delighting us and seemingly lending the object an animating force.
